About Us

The Indian economy with its mammoth growth is headed towards becoming the top three economies of the world. In the next few years, India would have answers to its most-pressing questions on poverty and corruption. By achieving this, India will be a solution-provider to the world. Nonetheless, the very existence of today’s India is rooted in its greatest leaders from Gandhi to Buddha, whose global impact was without the help of the internet.

The concept of Satyam indicates that if we pursue truth diligently, we have a greater chance of encountering Reality. Nityam is about sustainability: the ability to nurture, support and endure. Purnam is wholeness referring to harmony and fulfilment. The belief in this trinity has positioned India as a change-agent since Indian leaders thrive on being known as realized beings by embracing the spirit of sustainability and reverence for life.
The three crucial elements of Indian thought: Satyam (Truth), Nityam (Sustainability) and Purnam (Wholeness) are capable enough to influence and impact the world in the present century.

About GIT conference IIMK
Conversations on globalization have for a long time been synonymous with westernization. Indian thought does have a lot to contribute to such conversations. The intellectual heritage, rich traditions and innovative knowledge systems of India make it ideally suited to take a lead role in dealing with what will be an increasingly dynamic future in the globalized world. India has been instrumental in revolutionizing lives through its timeless ideas. To Arjuna, seeking direction in the battle of Kurukshetra, to Mandela seeking true freedom and dignity, to the Beatles seeking purpose and meaningfulness, and to Vivekananda seeking inspiration, India has provided succor to all who sought. In line with the above, the conclave on ‘Globalizing Indian Thought’ is designed to offer an opportunity for inquisitive and keen thinkers across professions and vocations to deliberate on the ageless Indian ideas converging into a plethora of creative platforms.

Indian culture, with its rich heritage, has its own tale to tell. The exuberance of the north, the serenity of the east, the beauty of the south and the energy of the west, all directions weave a wonderful fabric of culture which has presence all over the globe. India is famous for its vibrant celebrations and festivals. Festivals like Deepawali and Holi draw tourists from the globe to witness the gala feast to the eyes and heart. The celebrations of the festivals and occasions sautéed with traditions and customs, and adorned with glorious outfits, make India unique.

The very idea of Gurukul, which has its origins in India, is a great thought in itself. The indigenous education system of India has given birth to great mathematicians on one hand and learned philosophers on the other. The perfect blend of logic and knowledge is the basic tenet of the education system of India.

Indian Cinema a strong presence in the world today. With a humble beginning, the Indian film industry has now scaled international grounds and the journey continues. Every sphere - acting, singing, dance, is one of its kind.

Asceticism is the essence of Indianness and lies at the core of its existence. India is home to a number of religions as well. People across the world travel to India in quest of spirituality, and learn it from teachers at the ashrams. Yoga and mindfulness are other reasons which draw global citizens to this cosy country.

Not only for hockey, India is known for its love for cricket winning several world championships. With the advent of IPL, ISL, PKL, PBL, PWL, the love for sports and sportsperson spirit is beyond description.

The state-of-the-art health facilities added with selfless care is a feature of India shared by only few other countries. Yoga and detox centres promise enriching experiences. Food of India is all about spices and flavours. Combined with food, the hospitality in India lives up to ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’ meaning Guest is God.

Whether it is the Jugaad or inclusive growth, India is known for its grass root level development through its social enterprises and non-government organizations. The social issues of the country are dealt with simultaneously by these entities.

Is it not a wonder that the largest democracy in the world arguably continues to be a stable democracy even after seven decades of independence? India is a land of unlikely partnerships being forged for public good. Beginning with the Mahabharata, India remains the place where voice is raised for the preservation of voice. So what can help further and preserve this democratic idea?

The first Asian person to win the Nobel Prize in any branch of science, Sir C. V. Raman, was from India. It is the place where the unexplained intuition of Ramanujan led to celebrated contributions in Mathematics. The recent advancement in space sciences has propelled the Nation to be counted among a few distinguished nations. Not to forget that our scientists were one of the few who provided the world one of the cheapest vaccines for the ongoing pandemic. So what is the future of Indian science?

A walk inside India’s deep hinterlands reveals a deeper wisdom at work. A glance into the recent Padma Shri awardees provides enough evidence that making a difference is just not a monopoly of the literate. At the same time only 10% of the country owns around 70% of her wealth, indicating a widening inequity in opportunities and prosperity. What steps could be taken to narrow this divide?

What is the secret to effectively manage a business in India? What is the recipe for sustainability? India has around three dozen century old companies which are still in business. With start-ups becoming glamourous in recent years, we believe they have much to learn from the pages of history.

The key essence of Indian culture & traditions has always focused on creating a harmony with environment. Importance given to various plants, trees , animals and birds in our mythology, history and traditions is a testimony to the nature centric culture of India. Sustainable architecture of historical monuments and cities, organic farming practices by traditional communities , household art of recycling and reusability by our mother and grandmothers, all signify the fact that a sustainable way of life has always been the primary way of life in the country’s tradition.
